- The University of Otago's Medical School is the oldest in the country, founded in 1877. The Faculty of Medicine comprises the Otago School of Medical Sciences (Departments of Anatomy and Structural Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Pharmacology and Physiology) and the Christchurch, Dunedin and Wellington Schools of Medicine.
